    Need a runabout...

Hola peeps! I'm looking for a new toy, ideally something falling broadly into the category "Battered to hell series something-or-other (soft-top would be nice), but with some MOT (tax optional)" Let's see where this goes! :)

For Sale Breaking Disco1 300TDI Manual

Don't suppose you have a pair of rear doors (or at least the driver's side rear)?

    Wanted Disco 300tdi Rear door(s).

Looking for a driver's side rear door, or pair of rear doors for a Disco 1 (300 tdi ES). I almost have the old girl back on the road but still haven't got around to fixing the shattered rear driver's side glass. Given that the rear electric windows have never worked since the day I bought her I...

    orange water

My thoughts exactly, antifreeze/coolant is also a rust inhibitor as long as there's still a decent volume of glycol present. Or it could just be that there was no antifreeze to begin with (I've seen this a few times over the years).

    It's become a bit of a project!

Oh and I had another idea about the doors - the existing ones have electric windows but the circuit has been shot for years so the kids always moaned about them not opening, so I'm going to try and find a non-electric donor and just have manual winders in the back. Less to break in future!

Ok, pics sorted (an old domain expired so I've moved them and re-linked to the new site). Had a busy morning, I found a rear arch in Paddocks, just up the road from me and have welded it in place. First thing I ever welded if you don't include a tack on an old garden gate made from 1/4 inch...

    It's become a bit of a project!

The weather's been horrible so I haven't been able to do much more, let alone dare to take a camera out. I did manage to drop the silvered bulbs into the new clear indicators mind you (absolutely essential maintenance you understand ;) ) and they look great, just need a break in the wind and...

    Jack height

Mine still has the bottle jack that was strapped under the bonnet from the factory. :) I'll dig it out in the morning and measure the height if you still need it.

Completely failed to change the pads but the lad helped me clean off the moss (!) and bring back a certain sheen to the old gal. Wished she was roadworthy tonight as we've had a few inches of the white stuff and it's still coming down.

    It's become a bit of a project!

That's a fair point and one I've considered so when I replace the filters over the next few days I'll also be replacing the fluids. Come the new year I'll also look at replacing all but the cam belts. They were all done when I bought the beast (done less than 10k miles since then) but I can...

Haha! Not just yet. I'll be spending the best part of tomorrow working on her so I'll try to find time for some new pics.

    It's become a bit of a project!

Great news (and what an early xmas present) - dropped a new alternator in the old gal last week and the new battery arrived this morning. Clamped on a 1500amp jump starter and VROOM!! The big red beastie is back in business (that engine block really is bullet proof!) :) Now I can get back to...
