That's what I done , Got a 1 litre bottle of PSF and sucked out some then replaced with new , used car for a while then changed again until I used the whole bottle .

That will in time burn a hole through it ( and were do the bits go ) ? Better to block of the vacuum hose to disable the egr !

5w-30 is longlife oil for extended oil drain intervals but there is no way I would run a diesel car for 2 years & 20,000 miles on the same oil :eek: As you say a good 5w-40 fully or even a 10-40 semi would be better as the td4 engine is an old design and latest spec oil is not really needed .

Would be careful to not let to much carbon drop in the engine , It is possible to lock the engine up on the valves !

The number one reason for a removed prop & blanked IRD is something expensive has broken and this is a cheap bodge up . 1st post should be an introduction & It's a FREELANDER:rolleyes:

I replaced mine as it leaked and all the silver coating inside was gone :eek: A good used one of ebay solved the dim light .

I fitted a pagid disc & pad set of ebay think they were about £65 , Had no trouble fitting and brakes worked well . Still at the same price now -...

You will be lucky if the sunroof works & they normally rust away and leak :mad:

The lock cylinder can be changed easily , but I don't know if you can get a new one to fit your key , You can fit a new one with it's own key ? But to be honest in 12 years of ownership I don't think I ever used the back door lock !!

Unless it's been pulled off and broken the handle can be taken off and parts like the springs & micro switches can be replaced !

Had no problem getting to or undoing the IRD filler nut , I used the correct size socket ( 6-sided ) and a swivel headed ratchet , This allowed me to angle the ratchet handle forward to miss any thing in the way , Quick hit with a mallet and it came loose !

Any 019 battery will work fine ! Opps 096 is the correct battery :o
