Check the wheel cylinders on right have not seized up or leaking, shoes not oily, if you clean them up with bit sandpaper you can put some chalk marks every inch or so and test then see if shoes making contact across whole width if not there...

This situation is exactly why I posted. I know the Santanas have some subtle differences but I haven't found much to help identify the specific differences. I appreciate everyone's help. Mine started pulling pretty hard to the left, now that...

I'll look into this. No companies near me unfortunately.

The attached image is the front right brake on my 1979 Santana 109. I was trying to get parts numbers documented but none of the pictures of the shoes available look like what's installed. I also found a Santana parts catalog and those parts...

I have a mystery pump on my 1979 Santana 2.25 diesel, which I’m assuming is an air pump as the hoses connect to the air intake plug. It runs off a second, very small belt driven off the crank and is mounted under the alternator. I can’t find...

Disregard I figured it out. The shoes were not parallel at all.

Next self-inflicted issue. Right front brake was grabbing like crazy. Pulled the drum thinking maybe the shoes weren’t in parallel with the drum so I could adjust that setting. I confirmed the snail gears were set to their lowest points. Drum...

Thanks everyone. Your advice and insights were invaluable.

There is. How does it work? Obviously I turned it, causing the problem and I tried to turn it back. So I’m guessing I’m either using it wrong or I may have have broken it.

Just got my 1979 Santana series 3 109 station wagon. I took it out for a few miles and came back to snoop around inside. When I went to start it back up to park it, no power whatsoever. No lights… nothing. I took the battery out and charged...

The important thing is to check the swivels are shiny and not pitted. A little bit can be cleaned up but it depends how much of a leak you can live with

Thanks everyone. From what I've been told, the steering is particularly good on this truck. And, with all your feedback, I think I'll simply start by cleaning it all up and replacing the fluids in the swivel and diff and see what happens from...

Unfortunately I won’t be able to check for lift in the diff pinion until I get the truck delivered. Thanks much for the feedback.

Looking at purchasing a 1979 series 3 109. During inspection I was sent the attached pic of the front diff completely covered in oil. What has me confused is there’s oil on both the top and bottom. Obviously I’m dumb here. Is this simply a...
