cheers for that i have heard about the egr valve but i do still have one fitted on the other disco and seems to not slow it down but i think your right about the pump timing
only other thing i have been told is was the turbo working
in my experience they normally smoke when tyhey go but is this...

ive bought another disco for meself (1997) and decided to keep the old one as well (1995)
problem is the new one just dont go no where near as well as the old one ive done a lot of work on the new one including service and the only difference between the two is the new one has a stainless...

it sounds perfect what your doing but i really dont think it is all necessary as i said ive had years of trouble free running
just remember this chip oil will not lubricate the pump

ive been dabling with this for a couple of years now and find the cheaper the oil the least amount of problems (as it is thinner) i dont heat in the summer and in the winter mix with diesel 50/50 or a substance similar maybe heating oil (not saying that i do that) but you must remember to...
