I can't post the video I took but when I try to pry the thing off, the entire transmission ends up moving, getting me nowhere. It genuinely feels like its stuck on some other way, but I can't think of how, or why.

Like.
Heat it up with a heat gun & stick a bolt in the cover hole (not into the threads) & use the socket & extension for the ratchet to prize it up. You might need a Stanley blade to cut into the join. -
