Nope.. oil pressure is perfect when cold and hot. Checked several times just to be sure!
-
In some cases this could be the answer! However not in mine, I change every 3k with either Castrol or Morris oil and genuine filters.
Cheers

Looks like we are not the only Td5 owners with the “knock”! A chap from the defender forum I’m on has posted a video with the same problem.. video as well. Check it out on the Td5 posts.

Fair play, you are determined!
I’ve lost interest with mine.. however I must motivate myself to get it sorted.
Driving a 110 Td5 today, silky smooth and twice the mileage!
Out of interest how many miles has your Td5 covered ?
-
Looking for a diagram to show where each bolt goes.. lengths etc.
-
Replaced due to squeak on shut down.. didn’t cure the knock.
-
Or just a fuel map issue. Worth a go.
Have you had yours remapped ?
-
I haven’t done anymore with mine, it’s just been parked up!
Have you tried another good known ecu ?
-
Why.. I guess it’s a possibility due to it being temperature related. However I’m pretty sure if the manifold was warped it would make a high pitch squeal on acceleration ?
It also appears to make the noise lower down at the front of the engine?
I’ve checked oil pressure and that all appears...

As per title. I’m looking for a specialist who truly knows the Td5. Ideally in the south west, Gloucestershire if possible!

Fitting the replacement injectors hasn’t cured the knock.
Mine only does it when the engine is hot?
From cold it’s silky smooth until warmed up.
I’m not entirely sure what to do next?
-
Let me know how you get on with yours. What’s your next plan of attack ?
-
I have swapped the injectors on mine. I will
Upload a video and see what you think?
-
Im not sure, It’s possible it could have started since the seals were replaced however I cannot be certain.
To be honest this one has always been a little harsher than my other Td5. I bought it with only 57,000 miles on the clock and always thought it would run smoother as time goes on...

I can hear the knock from your Td5, it does sound very similar to what mine makes.
My dipstick level hasn’t risen. So I’m confident there is no diesel is in the oil. Mine has never been touched except for injectors seals two years ago as a precaution for a long trip. It’s currently on...
