Took to garage this morning and it was the rear prop shaft which had also taken out the yoke and UJ and I do not do any off roading. Hey Ho now fixed though and reasonable price which is why I love Defenders (just huge meccano sets)

wasn't intended to be but I can see your point
I was just just trying to stress a sense of urgency

ok thanks, i was hoping it would be the problem. Not sure how to check the UJs so will take it to my local indy garage tomorrow as it is advertised on autotrader and ebay at the moment and it needs to be 100%

OK, I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
I have a judder that I need to get sorted. Just started this weekend and although it's not getting worse...yet...I'm concerned.
Engine revs cleanly all the way in neutral.
Revs cleanly and no judder in first and second
In third....if I accelerate to...

Glad you got this sorted. I have just got exactly the same problem with my 2001 Defender 90 TD5. Just checked the props (I am not a mechanic) and notived that I can turn the front prop at least a third of an inch.
Should this happen or is the prop or UJs worn?
Thanks
Shaun

Many thanks and much appreciated
I have just fitted a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm and immoboliser and have 2 x steering locks since I suspect things can disappear
