Is this a air pump? Does it use oil for lubrication?

Recently pulled my air pump due to bearing noise. Notice a plug on the air pump that seems to be a oil plug. Is the air pump supposed to have oil in it or is this a drain??

The only number I can find on the top of the engine is the one from the pic I posted

What do you mean by the turbo is up high and not on the chassis? My turbo isn't down by the chassis? I'll def start looking for a newer engine.

I prob could settle this if I find the engine number huh? Where exactly do I look?

So say you are right and I convert the engine. Do they make a full kit or individual parts. Do you remember bout how much it cost you?

First off I want to figure out what's up with that black box on the passenger side? Second the air intake hose and turbo hose need to be replaced they both have holes in them. What type and weight of oil should I use

Anybody know any reliable companies that I could look at for parts

You are the man Chunkymunky. Would you be willing to post a pic of ur engine so I can compare them? Are the engines reliable? Also how hard is it to find replacement parts. I want to fix it up and take it back to the States when I go back

One last question. It seems to me if you look at my pics that I am missing a hose that should run from front of truck to the round filter housing, I'm assuming that's what it is,

So basically I might have a hybrid bastard engine is what I'm taking from that post. Thanks for the info Chris.

Now we're getting some where lol. So what's a good way to attack this engine? It runs great except for a little white smoke in the morning when it's cold. If I wanted to start refurbing the engine? Probably a pretty broad question

Everything I'm reading is saying the engine number should be in the side if the engine. Us this correct? And if so what is this the number that I found stamped on top of the engine?

I have a pic of a number I found on driver side top. It reads 556114 C.A. Then a E then 1984.
