im quite happy with the TD ive rebuilt it sounds well , ive got some monark inj nozzles to put in it too these worked well on the BMW made it quieter so im going to try them in the TD too i ll add more once its in and running .

ive just rebuilt a 19j and have done a small modification to it , it will now start from cold about 4 or 5 turns without heat and once run it will then start every bit as good as 200 tdi it fires instantly once slightly warm its quieter and smoother running than it was and from the way it...

if the threads do come out with the bolt and theres enough metal on the mating parts could you not drill and thread them and fit helicoils to repair the threads ive done a few alloy cast iron and steel thread repairs with helicoils and all are still working perfectly well , as for those O rings...

just to add a little the LT 75 was fitted in rover sd one minus the transfer case apparently these gearboxes are fitted with a high ratio 5 th gear . i wonder if the transfer case will fit the car version of this box or is the output shaft different .... any thoughts

im fairly certain water shouldnt be flowing from cold my m51 bmw doesnt do it other than through the heater system im guessing something has been fitted wrong and is allowing water to bypass the stat im not familiar with td 5 engine so i cant really say what to try or give you an idea of a...

thats a bloody conumdrum and a half . try starting from cold and see if water is circulating it shouldnt until it gets up to temp as to what might cause this id guess at it bypassing the stat somehow , will it warm up anymore with the heater turned to cold ..????

Well got to the bottom of my m51 power issues and oil leaks it was a restriction in the engine breather it didnt affect it at idle and it appeared to breath as you would expect but underload and on boost the breathing increases in a big way and that s where my trouble was its also cured my...

we used the kettle element type on everything from a diesel quad to highway tractors running cat and detroits, they are very simple and reliable

viscous fan could be locked up solid and with ally rad its just too much if you dont have a viscous fan id look at fitting one or remove you existing fan and go electric . i have an electric fan from an evoqe on my series .

there is a far simpler system like the ones we had in canada , its a small kettle element that fits in the block via a core plug and as tighten it up it exspands a rubber seal and seals up , you plug it in to the mains with a timer socket . or you could use a eberspacher hydro this runs on 12...

It's fine when it's cold but when it's hot it's nowhere near the same power and it takes a few turns before it starts .it's a different head as the old one cracked and it's never been same since once it's hot also when it's hot and you turn it by hand you can hear the valves hiss as they leak .

Hello does anyone have the specs for the valves and any settings relating to the BMW m51 . I'm fairly certain that once mine is hot the valves are not fully closing suggesting my valves and seats have worn a bit and needs some sort of adjustment or is it a case of new valves and seats because...

It all depends on what you want and how far you want to go with tuning your engine . Your making statements that aren't entirely true so I pointed that there are lots options open for tuning a diesel engine .
