I can drive it but then the rear diff tries to lock up even with the prop shaft removed. The rear drive shafts will be coming out. I'm going to remove the front pinion off the ird and see if the noise stops then it will all have to be replaced before winter comes

All gears seem fine just makes a wired noise like something things turning. the noise is like a very faint noise of when you grind the gears. It's only on neutral and when the clutch isn't pressed. I will check the selector rods when I get underneath. The pinion for the prop shaft shouldn't I be...

Oh very nice. A bit different views for me these days being in the Midlands. Yeah learnt to weld on my van as it was rotted years ago. Welded loads since even saved my son's bunk bed from going to the tip and the garage door that broke

Yeah that area is weakened and the other side aswell. And half way down on the driver's side the support between the box part of chassis to sill is rotten through. Iv been poking around with a pry bar and scrapping. Was only ment to be adjusting the the rear drums for the hand brake. I enjoy...

Ok thanks been looking on internet trying to find shops can buy it from rather than ordering and waiting. Yeah I plan on getting as much ofthe rust of with the grinder and drill and brushes as can 1st.

I am going to start tidying up the under side of the missus's td4. But whats the best the best stuff for treating the metal before I take the angle grinder to it? Looking on the internet at.rust converter but don't know which to use. Has any of you used anything decent to sort your Freelanders...

Thanks for your help I will have a look Google again. :eek: £100 I won't be paying that :oops: in will have to make a clip up if I can't find something. Was also looking at ones for other cars that I might be able to get rubber plastic but out to hold it on. Just guessing with sizes with that tho

So missus car lost all gears when pulled up. I knew straight away was gear linkage. The bottom road by the bear.box had popped off. Been having a look on internet can't fin new ones any were. Has any bought any knew from anywhere? Or has any one done a fix on these? Iv put 3 zip ties on for now...

Do you get the battery light come on the dash? I had similar problems from a new alternator and the company that remanufactured it had put the bearings inside the wrong way. They damaged after some miles and leaked grease every were inside and knackered it
