Hi, I have a 2003 L322 TD6 with a fauly gearbox. I have found a gearbox and transfer box from a 2006 3.6 TD V8. What are the difficulties in fitting that to my TD6 engine. The gearbox is marked *h427000AA and the transfer box 4h227k680CA

Ok, shouldn't be too big a problem once I have a gearbox and the old one out.

Are the adapter plates available or will I need to get it fabricated?

Is it any particular engine size gearbox that we need. A designation number would be great.

OK, so we need to look for a BMW X3 petrol engined with a 6 speed box. Might be difficult here in France as they are in love with diesels and you see very few petrol engines. Could maybe find one in UK and get it shipped down.

I am living in the South of France, so exchange gearboxes significantly drive up my costs. I have got a mate with a van who is planning on a trip to the UK as soon as covid restrictions allow who can bring one down for me if I get it delivered to his UK address.

I think we are going to have to look around for a reconditioned gearbox and torque convertor. Any recommendations?

He brought the car with the transmission faulty. He did an oil and filter change and did notice metal "dust" in the old oil. It worked fine for a couple of thousand miles but is now giving trouble again
