Newbie, but want to sell my Land Rover collection

Well, it would make a good base for a concourse classic if that is your thing. Lots of features only found on the very early 110s still present and the engine is at least period if not one ever fitted by LR to the 110. It has been laid up for a long time. All the best David

It is up to you if it is a reassemble as is or refurb, but you have to expect a refurb to cost more and the finished product to be worth more than a non-refurb example. All the best David

It is the original chassis galvanized. I think a "massive amount" of parts is an exaggeration. I would change all brake parts, but that is about it for the drive train. I wouldn't personally use the current engine, gearbox or transferbox. I'm still trying to work out the best order to do...

Thanks for the advice. I like the idea of welding up a cage of rebar to the studs and then casting that into the slab. I have some very substantial rebar offcuts that would be just the job in addition to the normal rebar mesh. The forces on the column fixings were worrying me. I am not sure I...

I kind of stole the thread. I am not the OP, but I did buy the two post ramp after having been convinced here that a I should buy a four post - I am now chatting about installing it. Pits do have special risks, such as accumulation of flammable gasses. I am not sure from the report if that was...

Getting the aggregate to the farm is where the Land rover earns its keep. We have a 3.5t (2.25t payload) tipping trailer and I will have to make a lot of trips. Luckily the stone yard is only a few miles away. It is good to hear that 150mm is OK, that is a lot less volume to deal with. I can...

We are 3/4 mile from any road that will take a mixer lorry or similar. Nothing bigger than a transit will get here. The only way to get to get concrete is 2t loads of all in ag in a trailer behind the land rover - offroading with a 3.5t trailer is a whole new experience. 8m^3 is 16t, so quite a...

    Different engines

OK, will let you know if I decide to rip it out. PO says that with the added intercooler and tweaking it was as good as the tdi, but he would, wouldn't he? All the best David

Thanks for the tips. It will be an entire new slab as the current floor is cow mat on mud... Even a concrete floor will be a major step up as I will not have to carry the jack around! I will have to mix the concrete by hand as there is no way of getting ready mix here, so want to over-engineer...

The current engine mounts suit the 2.5VM diesel, and possibly other engines of that vintage, possibly up to 200tdi, but I am really not sure about that. (Experts, help?) I can weld on mounts for 300tdi or TD5 if that is important. It is really difficult to get pictures at the moment as it is...

After all the good advice here, a 6t two post ramp came up locally at the right price - so I agreed to buy that. Now I really need to have a clear out as I have a foundation to dig...

    Which engine into 110?

The TD5 does seem to go well in the Disco II, and the one I have is the later engine with many of the problems fixed. I'm a bit wary of the complexity swapping it to the 110 though. I was planning to work out the minimum loom required to make it go while it was still in the Disco by trial and...

    Which engine into 110?

Saving one of the 300tdi for the 110 project has the added advantage that I can sell the Discovery II whole. It currently could drive away, which can't be said of either of the 300tdi donors. Even putting the 300tdi in took me a fair while last time and the electrics for that were trivial in...

    Different engines

I have a VM 2.5 diesel 4 cylinder in the 110 project. Ex Range Rover and apparently rebuilt. I was going to weigh it in, but perhaps too hasty? Or is it just too old for any interest?

Thanks and also to jamesmartin - very useful to have some real experience to help me choose well.
