Thanks Sierrafery - The following morning, all faults had gone :confused:
I continued research and found more of your posts mentioning the BCU. As a result, I removed the BCU and sprayed with Nanoprotech Electric spray to hopefully keep moisture out and prevent recurrence of the fault.

Hi, don't know if anyone can give some advice regarding failure of several items.
Rear wiper motor
Intermittent wash wipe standard front wipers work on.
Electric seats
Electric windows
Gearbox indicator only showing P by gearstick and on dashboard
Cause may have been connecting Nanocom to...

It's been a long and torturous journey, but after 7 weeks my 20001 TD5 ES Auto is back on the road and running better than ever :)
Fuel pump failure (only 3 months old) mis-diagnosed by local garage, and went through replacing 3 injectors before they gave up. Took the car to Mike at Kent 4x4...

Got my first Land Rover in December - a 2001 Discovery TD5 ES Auto with 123k. The best vehicle I've ever had for covering miles in comfort :D Absolutely love it.

It was complete removal using a kit from Ebay. Took less than an hour but did soak bolts with penetrating spray a few times over preceding weeks.

How happy am I - just done round trip of 585 miles from Ashford to Liverpool and back on a single tank of diesel. Not bad for an auto :D Could have got a bit further 'cos only managed to squeeze 80 litres in, but wasn't sure how far I could go with warning light on. Now reckon 50 miles would...

I have rear A/C on a 2001 Y plate ES, but an umbrella would have been more useful:-)
