Hi mine did the same after I did a restoration. Worked fine before but not when I pit it back together. Took some time to figure out but it was the rod slightly bent from when I disconnected and reconnected the handbrake cable.

Hi Presumimng the microswitch on the door handle works fine, try checking the wiring behind the drivers side rear trim in the boot where the wiring loom goes through the body to the door. I did all the same repairs as you did to find it still didn't work, it was broken wiring behind that trim...
