    catastrophic prop shaft failure

I had a goog look at the part at the weekend and Wammers was correct. The knuckle holding the U/J was full of stress fractures adn it was made of **** steel. Every thing looks ok but mechanic will have a good look when insurance is sorted out. He reckons it is fine to drive as a 2 wheel dirve...

    catastrophic prop shaft failure

In answer to Wammers question I didn’t know you could replace the UJ so I got a whole shaft. The splicer broke and that caused the flange to split. Island 4x4 said they would replace it or give me my money back but the need the shaft back. They will not give money towards the repair so...

    catastrophic prop shaft failure

There was a small bit of vibration but no noise. I thought it was my wheels and was going to get them balanced when i got home.

    catastrophic prop shaft failure

Hi, I had my front prop shaft on my 2000 p38 replaced 8mts ago with a britpart one. I was on the motorway yesterday when it failed catastrophically. It put a hole in the floor and cracked my gear box. I was lucky though, as the rear hardy spicer failed first, if it had been the other way...

P38 Cutting out when Changing down

Don’t know but if i had to put money on it i would say it was the mechanic who had it out to fix the injector pump. The thermostat was gone and he didn’t even bother to replace it said I might like to do it so as far as I am concerned he damaged it while disconnecting it or...

P38 Cutting out when Changing down

got the car back, drove it 6 miles and the rad went, sent ti back and he fixed it, got it back and the compressor failed, fixed that and drove 2 miles and the rad burst again. All fixed now apart from the heating. Does anyone know if someone around the midlands in Ireland has software to reset...

P38 Cutting out when Changing down

pump was replaced and the tank was cleaned out, fan replaced, return lines replaced and water pump replaced. And yes No holes were cut in the car. low pressure on two injectors and hot start problem so i would say that the only solution is sort the injector pump out. By the way the hot start...

P38 Cutting out when Changing down

It looks like the viscous coupling in the fan has gone and is causing the engine to shut down to protect itself from over heating. New fan being installed and hopefully that will be the end of that. Peter

P38 Cutting out when Changing down

Hi Adam, The car is being taken away on Monday to have live data read when the problem occurs. The guy doing it rebuilt a P38 and reckons that the problem is with the thermostat as it wasn’t replaced when the water pump was. He said that RR recommend replacing the two along with the...

P38 Cutting out when Changing down

Had fues box out at weekend and all looks fine with it, no corrosion. I have been told that the fuel filter housing can give problems and suck in some air when hot could this be causing the problems outlined above.

P38 Cutting out when Changing down

Pulled the relays and no corrosion on them. From what i can see with out stripping the fuse box down all looks good. How strong should the fan run when the engine is hot as when the gauge is at 12:00 the fan is only spinning slowly? Could it be something to do with the temperature sensor as...
