@Buckhandle the rattling is always there and quite heavy, you hear it on start up and on low revs all the time, its only vanishes at high revs/speeds. The car is somehow hard to start yes. thanks for the tips, I guess I have a long weekend ahead of me!

Forgot to mention that the dielsel consumption on the D90 in its current condition is rediculous, I barely make 390Kms with a full tank! there must be something wrong... Also any help on that matter would be high appreciated.

My D90 TD5 2001 puffs up white smoke on cold startup and a whole of black smoke when driving slowly and at high speeds - it doesnt stop. Could use some assistance. My mechanic says the injectors should be replaced/cleaned and the diesel pump serviced. any other tips? Thanks.
