I know! Resistance on a sender shouldn't change like that by twisting the plug around! Its just the fear of killing the engine that brought me to ask on the forum to see what others think! I am currently waiting for her to cool completely to see what happens to the gauge when I fire her up from...

So my tdi 300 started running hot (just before the red mark). When i put the foot down and kept the revs up she ran cooler but not at mid range. No coolant leaks although the tank was low so I topped it up. No steam etc. I removed the thermostat and ran her - still the same temperatures...

True would be handy! My problem is i'm between workshops an i've nowhere to get her stripped out. Working in the dark sucks!

The hazards never worked and I need her ready for mot but being busy I read that it was the most common thing to go and replaced it as it was cheap thinking i'd get away easily! No such luck!

No I disconnected the hazard switch and it did nothing different with the fog. it's beginning to feel like a dash out rewire job!

Unfortunately not! The hazard switch (new) shorts the indicators out and the fog lights dead too!!

When I remove fuse 6 the fog light stays on and if I remove the relay it also stays on! The only thing affected by the fuse and relay being removed is the illumination of the instrument warning lamp when the fog light switch is in the on position.

Thanks for all the assistance guys. When the main lights are switched on the fog light will switch on regardless of the position of the ignition barrel It will also remain on with the fog light switch disconnected

Hi Would anyone be kind enough to send me wiring diagrams for the lights on a Defender? I need to check/rewire the fog, reverse light, and hazards :eek:! Thanks!

To be honest it's been this way from I bought it so maybe someone has made a mistake behind the dash. Suppose there's nothing else to do but pull it out and have a look! Anyone kind enough to have a wiring diagram? :confused:

Hi, The loom plugs onto the back of the switch then there are two spades one to each side of the switch. Not much to get wrong as it's factory wiring

No led's fitted. Would that be the earths behinds the rear lights?
