Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

Thanks 👍 We have a sunroof - even with that tilted open there isn't much alleviation of the buffeting. No opening window on the tailgate - and I'm not going to use a hammer...🤣

Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

Thanks for the replies. We've had large cars/double cab trucks for years. This is the 1st time we've experienced such a noticeable buffeting, especially at relatively low speeds (30mph+). Our Defender does it at 50mph+. Yes it is somewhat alleviated by opening an opposite window as I noted in...

Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

Afternoon Our 2011 Freelander HSE SD4 has the most appalling wind buffeting/interior 'cabin' pressure problem when only 1 window is opened. Our elderly dog has taken to wanting to have his head out of the window at all times when travelling in the car. In our Defender this is not an issue (just...

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Thank you for the clarification re the wading plug. Botheration re the seal - sods law given that we've just had the clutch done so if we'd checked earlier we could've had it done at the same time. Have to check down the back of the sofa for some loose change 😱

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Ok - after the thrills of getting the plug out, and new gear box oil in, it appears that the oil is escaping from a hole at the bottom of the bell housing 😟. That would answer the mystery of where the oil has gone. 2 questions: the oil is dripping out of a threaded hole at the middle bottom of...

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Yes - managed to persuade the torque bit in place, then gently applied the undo pressure - held our breath! OH has welded it in place 👍

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Thanks for that - not sure we are brave enough for the aggro..... Fingers crossed we can get a Torx bolt banged in to do the trick. I have a replacement plug coming. If all else fails we are going to tip landy sideways so we can get some in via the drain plug

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Yes this is what I was wondering - I took the covering off the small gear selector (diff lock engagement/low high gear) but couldn’t tell if there was a direct route to the main gear box. This would certainly be the simplest

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Thanks - will give that a shot. Annoying thing is we had the clutch replaced 2 weeks ago….

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Where’s the level plug? Isn’t that the filler plug which we can’t get out?

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Our '96 300 TDI has been decidedly noisier in the gear changing dept. On Tuesday I was towing a trailer and going uphill in 3rd and there was a definite change in sound (more high pitched). Anyhoo we figured it was probably a good point to check on the gearbox oil level. Today removed the drain...

Temp gauge doing weird and wonderful things......

Thanks for the replies. Looks like it was an intermittent earth issue. When we were sorting out the lights on the light panel I had noticed that the bracket holding the temp gauge in place was loose and the gauge was rotating. I didn't sort that out at the time, but this morning had a proper...
