That's what it was. It had popped out, and had a crease in the centre as if it has been hit with a ball pein from inside. New one in situ and sealed...I'll give it 24hrs and reassemble everything and give it a water test...god i hope it's sealed!!! Many thanks for the help

Many thanks,lads. I'd almost come to the same conclusion but you've settled me now. So tomorrow it's a strip down again and fit a new one...and oil and so forth. It's odd that there are no refs to it in Haynes or the full manual. Cheers Andy
