    ird cooler pipes

I like your thinking with the Dowty seal but I suspect that even then I would be in danger of further stripping the thread. Can but try I suppose. I wonder if a good wind of PTFE tape might give me a bit more torque to work with. Just thinking outloud really.

    ird cooler pipes

The other problem I've got is that a previous, um - technician, cross threaded the fill plug. Taking it out was high resistance and the thread on the steel plug was, to say the least, sub prime. With the steel plug damaged it's pretty certain that the thread in the alloy casting is, pardon...

    ird cooler pipes

I'm so glad I'm not the only idiot who's done that... I'm thinking I'll replace the cooler unit, part number TAR100010, though Britpart price of £122 seems a bit steep. As far as I can tell it's just a press-in disk assembly - or have I got that wrong. If so then it shouldn't be too much...

    Freelander rear brakes

Thanks Marjon. Retainer pins sounds likely. I've had the drums off and the pins are present. I'll wip them out and check condition... replacing the spring kit on Friday anyway. I think I might take the rear diff as well. I removed the prop shaft a while back because the fluid drive was...

Oh, and it remains locked until I press the brake pedal hard...

    Freelander rear brakes

Pretty sure it's brakes because only one wheel locks. If it was diff both would lock - probably...

    Freelander rear brakes

Hi all. The rear brakes on my Freelander1 have spontaneously locked whilst the car is in motion. Up to now it has only happened at low speed but I'm worried that it could happen at motorway speed and cause a catastrophe. Last night for example I drove over a cattle grid and the rear brakes...

The bolts on the lower swinging arms I mean of course.

    Freelander 1 wheel bearings

All built back up again now but I've noticed an odd discrepancy. I'm sure it's not important but I'll ask anyway. On the diagrams I've seen on line the inboard pivot bolts are all shown fitted from the rear with the nut on the front end whereas on mine they're all fitted from the front with...

    Freelander 1 wheel bearings

Thanks guys. Very helpful. I think I'm going to leave the splash shield and CV joint as they are and just fit the new bearing. If the rust on the CV and hub carrier becomes a problem at least the bolts are new and should be free if I need to undo them again. Question is how long do I really...

    Freelander 1 wheel bearings

I'm pretty sure this is just a weather shield so I can get away without replacing it... Any other opinions?

    Freelander 1 wheel bearings

Sorry. Found it. It was off the bottom of the page. I expected a paperclip in the tools bar. Doh!
