chrisstdt replied to the thread Are prices dropping?.
Prices seem to have gone back to a more sensible level Seen a few nice looking cars on galv chassis not make their reserve on ebay Just not the money for toys The 15k 110 was up for 17k a few weeks ago

Easy enough to swap along as you can get the old one out You'll loose very little coolant

That would make sense I've a spare bulkhead that I could repair and have galved but it's the internal rust that I can't see that worries me

I've fitted a couple of Maer chassis and was very impressed Has anyone fitted one of their bulkheads ?

Just put my finger through the footwear on my bulkhead ( next to lower door hinge) I could repair it (again) but I've looked at galv bulkheads I wouldn't touch shielder after the chassis they once sent me ! SP are the cheapest but it says in...

chrisstdt replied to the thread Heavy vibrations at 40mph.
Steering wheel used to shake like mad on mine Just start with the easy things like removing prop and checking / swapping wheels I've seen some props where the uj was all but ready to fall off and they didn't vibrate Badly balanced wheels...

Vibrations or death wobble ? My 90 would shake violently at around that speed and if I hit a pot hoke No noticeable play in panhard rod bushes but once I changed them the problem stopped

chrisstdt replied to the thread 19j worth saving ?.
Fitted a new battery which helped hugely with starting I've also fiddled with injection pump timing ,having settled on advancing it quite a bit and smoke has massively reduced Hope to get a better go at it at the weekend

chrisstdt replied to the thread 19j worth saving ?.
I'm told the tdi is good but it is cheap and won't come with a guarantee ! Think il buy either way as a spare as I have a 90 and a lightweight with 300s in

chrisstdt replied to the thread 19j worth saving ?.
I can get a 300 locally for £300 (200s getting pretty rare now) You can now buy an engine mount for drivers side so no need to cut chassis mount ,plus I'd need to make an exhaust downpipe (or but but they aren't cheap) plus radiator ,intercooler...

chrisstdt replied to the thread 19j worth saving ?.
Very interesting ,I'm almost loathed to take the engine out as there aren't many original ones left now The engine I have smokes like a chimney and the air filter is very oily (breather is standard so still runs to intake) How much work is likely...

I've a 1988 90 with an original / period 19j turbo engine The usual bad starting ,smoke and spewing oil out the breather In days gone by these engines were seen as boat anchors and would be replaced with a tdi Are they now worth saving as there...
