    Juddering Issue

Hi Neil and Rich, Thanks for the responses. Been away for a couple of days so I’ll get under it tonight - thanks a lot. My hand brake is terrible and I have to pull it all the way up so I doubt it would be this - but I’ll loosen it all the way off if I don’t find any play in the prop. I’ll...

    Juddering Issue

Morning all, thanks for your responses. I had a little crawl underneath yesterday and topped up the diff oil in both just to rule that out. Seems to have improved slightly, but that may be positive thinking kicking in. Really stupid question, but will it be obvious where to check my UJ’s and...

    Juddering Issue

Hello all, Just when I thought I'd ironed out all my problems (I'm joking, I know a problem free 300tdi doesn't exist). My 1996 300tdi has developed a juddering. I initially thought this was worst in 3rd gear, but I now think it's more to do with speed - with the dash almost vibrating apart...

    Modular Steel Wheel Fitment advice

Cheers Chris. I've not long replaced all the wheel bearings with Bearmach ones - so hopefully they will be okay!

    Modular Steel Wheel Fitment advice

I asked the company and they said they were okay. I also looked online as I was still dubious, but it looks like they will be fine

    Modular Steel Wheel Fitment advice

Hi all, I'm back again - with another small wad of cash ready to throw at the old girl. I'm looking at getting 5 new modular steel rims from Tyredirect.com as I've been recommended by someone. I have a few 235 70 16 Mud Terrains at home ready to go on, but I'm struggling to work out which...

    Brake pressure/fluid loss

Cheers Peter, that's all I needed to hear. £11.50 isn't much to pay for absolute piece of mind.

    Brake pressure/fluid loss

Sorry lads, last question until I get the tools out. Will I need new brake pads? Or do you think I can clean them with brake cleaner and give them a rub down with emery paper? I know pads are relatively inexpensive, but I've only just replaced the rear pads for Mintex ones.

    Brake pressure/fluid loss

It looks as if they are leaking from the pistons... was hard to tell, as I didn't even bother removing the calipers as I could just see the fluid all over the inside of the wheel and the disc. I was rushing around a bit so saw plenty of fluid and decided it was time for some new calipers! I...

    Brake pressure/fluid loss

So I removed the rear wheels and I saw the problem right away. Not one, but both of my rear calipers are leaking. Only changed the rear discs and pads a couple of months ago and all! Going to replace these, rebleed using a new Ezibleed kit I bought and see how I go. Cheers for all your help lads.

    Brake pressure/fluid loss

Also chaps, another point that I should have probably mentioned before... When the brakes started deteriorating, I could hear what sounded like air coming from the brake pedal every time I braked. Now I think of it, this could point a finger at the master cyclinder? I'll still check...

    Brake pressure/fluid loss

You're all brilliant, that gives me a great start to what to look at. I'll jack her up onto axle stands tonight and give it a good clean and let it dry. Its a 1996 300tdi - sorry for missing this off! I've read a bit online saying that I may have knackered the master cylinder by letting the...

    Brake pressure/fluid loss

Hi guys, me again! My brakes have always been really good, up until suddenly yesterday they started going spongey. This rapidly got worse and worse but whilst I was almost home I carried on for the final mile as they still worked. When I pulled up, I have found the reservoir to be completely...
