    Chassis swap

No, there's no strength anywhere in the middle. About the only bit you can take off as a 'unit' is the bulkhead. More work than you hoped, but on the plus side you can do all of it (except the engine) without needing a hoist. Reassembly is rear tub first, seatbox, bulkhead - using the doors to...

    lock wire

I did all in one too, I grew up seeing a lot of aero engines and was always fascinated by how and why it was done! This sort of thing - they have special pliers, I got a tired wrist.

    starter motor questions

Worth checking to see if you have a local motor/alternator specialist. I have, Mr Morris has saved me a fortune.

    starter motor questions

If @sprie is asking if a freshly rebuilt engine is harder to turn over - no, any increased compression and not-yet-run-in bits would be compensated by all the oil you hopefully squirted everywhere!

Defender TD5 90 - Play in front Prop Shaft - DON'T WANT TO DRIVE!

You can usually get a good idea of anything serious being wrong by draining and examining the transfer box oil (I had square roller bearings falling out of one of mine). A fair bit of rotational play is pretty common though, any axial or sideways play at the output flanges of the t box, and...

Series 3 New "ticking" noise upon acceleration (in gear only)

We could do all sorts of guessing, but it would help to know whether they moved the engine or the gearboxes. Either way though, best bet is to take it back and let them sort it.

    Series 3 advice

Britain's finest REME camouflaged my door seals, twice.

    Tow Rope/cable

You might be surprised! A dumb WPC had driven the Polis Transit with four or five plod in onto a ploughed field near where I used to live. The revving and blue lights woke me. Pulled them out with a backwards tow in a 1.2 Punto. No real thanks and I somehow got the impression it was my fault.

    Series 2 Lightweight Gearbox Issues

@tottot is probably right, but check the little grub screw which goes into the back, top of the gearbox through the rounded top above the transfer box here. Mine was actually missing and it made all sorts of graunching, your may have screwed in a little if the locknut isn't tight.

    Gearbox cover/tunnel removal?

My Lightweight takes a fair bit of splaying outwards before the back will come up. I think I could have got the bulkhead a few mm further forwards, even thought the doors are by no means tight.

    Series 2a fairey overdrive issues

I'd drain the od unit oil, looking for bits. Then the transfer box for the same. I haven't yet rebuilt an od (although I have one to do) but understand that spares are available. I'd be hoping that it's the main nut as suggested by @steve2286w - which would be indicated by bits in the transfer...

And simply the age of the bird's nest rammed in there. Next job on mine is a new loom.

Driving a series 3 in North Cornwall

We couldn't believe how much quieter my diesel S3 was when we swapped the hard top for canvas.
