    Thanks guys for all the help on this one, I’ve been in touch with DVLA and been informed that to register the vehicle I do need an MOT. So for now I’ll have to fix it first and then get it tested. Thanks again for all your help.

    I got my Shorland MOTed just on the chassis number, in order to then register it. That was about 35 years ago so don't know if things have changed.

    I’ve just bought an ex mod defender wolf got the release papers and filled in the registration docs. Sent off to DVLA who returned them saying I had missed out a few bits of information. To be fair I only had the release papers and not yet...
