Hi all
Thanks to all who offered opinions on my problem.
I went down the route of getting a matching set of Engine ECU, Immobiliser ECU, CCU and transponder chip.
Replacing the immobiliser ECU is a bit of a pain involving removal of the dashboard.
Pleased to say that the engine...

Hi Grumpy
I was thinking about perhaps something from an older 4x4 being transplanted in.
I had a couple of Lada Nivas in the past and think that someone could possibly remotely mount the transfer box amidship and provide both low box and 4x4.
Obviously that person will have a lot...

Given the number of VCU problems that folk have and the cost of replacement and possible additional damage to the driveline, has anybody ever been successful in replacing the VCU with a manual means of engaging four wheel drive?
Even if it was a system where you had to stop the vehicle before...

Hi Nodge / Dave / Jonaf
I've been a bit slow getting back to the car and you guys due to having a couple of health issues and visits to the hospital.
I agree that having a matched Engine, Immobiliser and BCU ECU's together with the transponder chip from the key is the way to go and save...

Hi Nodge68
From what I've read on various posts I was also forming the opinion that the Immobiliser ECU and Engine ECU were coded together.

Hi Brack, HTR
Thanks for the response
I have double checked all the fuses and all are present and intact.
I also checked that voltage was present either with ignition off or on as required.
One thing I noticed was that Fuse F5 on the below dash fuse box that is labelled as Immobilisation ECU...

Hi guys
Just bought a Renault RX4 and when I went to pick it up sitting in the corner was a 2001 Freelander 1.8 5 door covered in dust.
When I asked about its history the young mechanic told me that they had carried out £500 worth of MOT repairs and then a couple of weeks later the owner...

Thanks Gb8man for an excellent post.
Just done this job on my 2002 TD4 and found it straight forward but very tight. I removed the front pipe completely and it was a lot easier to get to the oil return pipe and lower mounting bolts.
I removed and cleaned out all the pipes and Intercooler as...

Really impressive Mr Noisy.
If mine turns out half as nice as this I'll be happy.
Have you dared to keep a tally of the costs?

Hi Guys
Although I only just joined LZ I've owned many over the years and even did my apprenticeship at a Rover/Land Rover/Triumph/Jaguar dealership in 1972.
Just bought a Discovery 300tdi to sit next to the L200 Pick Up and Trooper Commercial. I live near Nottingham city centre but my partner...
