I have had exactly the same and it only gets worse - it is the govenor sticking untill sufficient pressure has built up to kick it back to life - i gave my box a flush and put in a new filter and fluid and it now changes faultlessly no matter how cold it is! Hope this is of help!

I have researched this problem as mine was doing the same but gradually got worse - it ended up sticking in first gear for about 2 miles untill it would change gear at all but once it did change it was mostly fine but sometimes holding going into top - it was the govenor in the box 'sticking'...
