Update:
They pushed the car out of the garage and it started to behave normally again. Keyfob works and engine starts. Perhaps an issue with RF interference.
It's now sitting pretty on my drive 😊
I'll have to check if I have the updated RF...
Luckily there's no risk of getting locked out because the driver's door has never locked properly. I've also got one of those inflatable cushions and a metal hanger just in case 😆
Ideally I'd like to get a new lock barrel and key (flip...
Problem with pushing is there's a few ramps to overcome, and the guys at the garage were quite busy with other cars so I don't think they'd be too happy about spending time on mine now that I've paid the bill.
I held the key fob right up to the...
Hi all,
My 1999 has finally passed its MOT! But the garage said they can't start the car anymore. Dashboard says engine disabled. Was working yesterday, but not today. Dash and radio still light up, so don't think it's a flat battery.
I've...
It is booked in with a LR indy tomorrow, just wanted to check ahead of time. Current MOT station told me it wasn't going to pass either way if it had no cats
Is this the right set of cats for a 1999 Thor?:

That's good to know.
I'm back at square one then - assuming the MOT station won't fail it for missing cats, what's the usual process of diagnosing high emissions?
I'm going to have them check the voltages on the O2 sensors today to see if...
Failed on emissions I believe, no mention of cats in the results:
Exhaust carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle exceeds default limits (8.2.1.2 (b))
Exhaust Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (8.2.1.2 (c))
Exhaust...
Just been to the garage - they reckon the cats have been cut out and replaced with straight pipes. Pictures to follow later.
If that's the case - please do share where I can get some replacement ones.
Should the O2 sensors be pre-cat or post-cat?
Haven't heard back from the garage today (despite telling me they'd ring - classic).
There's another garage a bit further which has all the LR diagnostic equipment, so I've booked it in with them later this week.
Hopefully all will become clear...
It's at the station right now so I can't take a look yet - I did mention the lambda sensors, but they said they were '100% confident' the cats are at fault.
They said they would have to change all 4 lambda sensors to be able to rule that out...
MOT station has just rang - they reckon there could be an issue with the cats. Said they sounded hollow when they tapped them. Is there a quick way to diagnose this?
Morning,
Just took mine in for an MOT.
It failed on suspension wear and emissions:
Exhaust carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle exceeds default limits (8.2.1.2 (b))
Exhaust Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits...
Thanks!
Been out today and drove about 20 miles total, all seems to be good so far.
I did smell some burning from under the bonnet, maybe because the heat shields are off?
I tried to check the coolant level when I got home, but now my bonnet...
Top hose was cold and squishy this morning.
No obvious leaks either, so fingers crossed.
Next issue is why my battery doesn't last more than a few hours, but I'll save that for another thread
Just been for a 10 minute drive.
Temps idling between 90-91, max 92.
I'll keep an eye on the levels and for any leaks.
Only thing that concerns me - assuming the OBD tool is correct - what kind of damage could have occured if the temps...
