    Intermitent Indicator problems

UPDATE: I took the Freelander out for a drive last night, indicators stopped working for me on 2 occasions. Tried the hazard switch both times and it didn't work either. There was a lot of water around on the roads last night - I did wonder if any water in the towing electrical socket could...

    Intermitent Indicator problems

ok, thanks. I was thinking it was the contact within the switch/stalk, not the external wire contacts.

    Intermitent Indicator problems

So if the indicators stop working from the stalk and the hazards still work from their switch, it must be the stalk? Do you need to take the stalk apart to spray WD40 on the contacts? Thanks for the assistance!

    Intermitent Indicator problems

Our facelift (53) Freelander 1 is having some intermittent issues with the indicators. Sometimes they work fine, other times nothing at all. Its my Fiancé's car and after reading posts on here she has tried wiggling the stalk with mixed results - it did start working at one point and then...

    Middle brake light - corrosion

The middle/high brake light on our Freelander is corroded and the paint is flaking off. I suspect this is a common problem. Has anyone else had this and re-painted it? I haven't take a proper look yet, but presume it can be removed and shot-blasted before being primed and painted again? (We...

3rd Party replacement alloys - advice sought

We have a '53 facelift TD4 Sport with 18" Alloys, now in the market for 4 or 5 new alloys. Seen some reasonable prices on the net for some, I know we need 18x114.3 but what width are they as standard? And what width will safely fit in the arches without catching? We will re-use the...

    Alloy wheels

Droitwich, I'd be interested to know who you've been talking to? I've been mainly looking at companies online so far, most near Birmingham and prices vary tremendously! Seriously considering new ones, lots available for < £450. Then we could sell the 2 decent 18" Freelander ones on eBay...

    Alloy wheels

    Draining fuel tank advice

Thanks :) What's best to use to drain fuel? A piece of hosepipe and siphon or some sort of pump? Is it easy enough to refit the plate removed by hammer?

    FBH thermostat failed?

Our late 53 TD4 has a FBH (fuel burning heater) fitted. I have noticed I is on all year round! Is there some sort of thermostat that detects the outside air temp to activate it? I'm also not sure if it cuts out when engine reaches temperature.....

    Draining fuel tank advice

My partner made a mistake yesterday and started filling the TD4 with petrol. There was almost £20 of petrol put in. Once she realised her mistake she thought the best thing to do was immediately dilute it with diesel so she put in £60 of diesel! She drove home (4 miles) and now the freelander...
