Loaded it with ramps and tools, drove to my friend's place and (believe it or not) fixed his Toyota! Ha! Land Rover rescues Toyota! It had to happen one day. Have that naysayers!
I also ordered replacement air springs for the rear as I have...
You'll need a compressor to seat the bag on the seals when you put it back on, takes about 40-50psi I think. Probably good to have a lovely assistant around to hold the strut up while you pull the bag down at the base and inflate it a bit too...
Yeah the bags look pretty good to be honest, no that old at all in person. I think I’ll get the shock out and give it a proper going over, might give the new O-rings a try, will see. Thanks for all the help.
It's three large O rings and spacers which I'd be curious as to why it would even fail there and you'll have to go to the effort of stripping it completely to get to them. I'm not confident enough to say one way or the other whether or not...
That's where the bag is supposed to seal to the strut itself. It has a set of O-Rings (3x for memory) and plastic spacers to create the seal. It looks as thought strut is fairly new by the condition of the paint there. I'd be inclined to just...
This is good news I think. The car agrees with the situation by the look of it. The flashing red line is the one above the wheel (the arch height?), I'm not that familiar with the earlier screen so I'm just trying to get it clear in my mind...
If the bags have leaks in both of them it may not be able to lift itself. Clearing the errors won't help if the leak is greater than the air flow from the system.
Deal with the rear airbags first and go from there👍
Interesting and timely this; my friend had an issue with his this weekend where the compressor was overheating but his car wouldn't lower. It won't be the same for yours but we can use some of the same troubleshooting steps.
I'm not sure how...
Not sure about that but I would have to talk to a pro before I tried it. The current required to propel a 2 ton brick to 60 mph in under 10 seconds must be pretty high. Wouldn't want that earthing through my socks.
I'd say you'll be putting a gearbox in it, it seems to be the weakest link on the early cars and as BiB has suggested, a couple of grand seems to be about the sum to do it properly.
Look at it this way though, you've got an early car which (I...
Trying to make amends for earlier, have a look at this video of a valve block strip down on an LR3/4. I think it's the same as the one in the L322. Interestingly this one is slightly stuck on the balance between the left and right air springs...

Good point about the Trailer indicator light, I do get an indicator light in the original dashboard between the fuel gauge and speedo... I'll ask! Sounds like a minor thing to add so.
Oh. My. God!
That wasn't a dare!
Get ready.
@LR-hobbs I'm so sorry we're hijacking this thread and derailing it! Mark and I will now have to personally find the answers to your questions to try and get this back on track.
I think this is how it was done on the older stuff. It's unlikely that you'll be pulling too much amperage by adding trailer lights. The bypass relay is mainly used on newer vehicles that will throw bulb failure warnings if the resistance is...
Still can't get the link to work. Search for this on eBay: Universal 7 Way Bypass Relay PCT ZR2500 Towing Interface Inc Fog Cut Out

I have a feeling that might not be an option, Germany has some funny rules about towing and the TUV might insist on it being 13 pin native especially if they need reverse lights on the socket. No idea whether TUV would test the live outputs or...
I've never done one myself but I'm sure I've read about people rebuilding them, no doubt someone clever with some actual experience will be along shortly to tell us where the best resources are. I expect mine will fail soon enough but I'm sure...
Whilst I'm very pleased for you, this level of bragging has brought up some feelings of jealousy.
Nah, I'm over it. Good for you my friend. Good for you!
Have you checked for leaks around the union on the new bag? I'm wondering if the pipe has got damaged when changing the bags, a bit of soapy water will help you out there.
The standout obscurity to me here is that it seems to know it's right...
