Not to difficult to do but just to help, buy some tippex before you disturb any belts and pulleys, just mark yourself some referance points, it will make you feel better when you come to put it back together. If still unsure take loads of pics with your phone.

Check the servo is working (press pedal 4/5 times start engine with foot on brake pedal should go down 1 inch or so) if not check evacuator pump (if deisel) manifold hoses on petrol

clamp all four hoses if you then have a pedal release one at a time trying the pedal after each till u find the troublesome one. Then just open the bleeder with the resovoir cap removed and just watch dont press the pedal..after a few mins (2-5) it should start to drip leave for a further 2-5...

Only come across this once It was a poor earth on the switch over relay. Worked ok reving / charging but kept switching off at idle. Fixed it by strip /clean solenoid valve with carb cleaner and redid earth

Sounds like the sensor may have been at the end of its life when you reset it. I would put it on an osillascope

Stripped a p38 so as to replace upper and lower ball joints took 1 look started crying and went home for a lay down in a dark room (what have I taken On???)
