My Review of a Timber Trail Boost Pin. Defender 200tdi. (or 300tdi)

Well, looks like I've got a nice list of jobs to be getting on with before I start playing with the fuel pump, shame i've got so much spraying to do, would love to spend a week working on it. Theres a hill near me (on road) that I can sit on at 30-35mph in 3rd, change up too 4th, foot to the...

My Review of a Timber Trail Boost Pin. Defender 200tdi. (or 300tdi)

That's good to know about silicone hoses, I thought they looked a bit expensive, new set of rubbers look in order. I used to have a 300 and thought it was great, tons better than the 200. Quicker, quieter, smoother. (although, maby the 300 was perfect and my 200 has a few little issues).

My Review of a Timber Trail Boost Pin. Defender 200tdi. (or 300tdi)

Fitted my gauges today. Didnt have the right tap for the EGT so had to weld the bung on first so it took longer than i'd hoped. Took it for a spin and EGT maxed at 550, so ive got plenty of scope to tweak. I mounted the boost gauge in the center dash, where the rear window wiper control...

My Review of a Timber Trail Boost Pin. Defender 200tdi. (or 300tdi)

I don't think there is anything fundamentally wrong with my engine. It's well serviced and the cam belt was done recently. I just think the 200tdi's are weak engines. I blew a rod out the side of my old engine, when that was running healthy it was sluggish. After i swapped in a new 200 from a...

My Review of a Timber Trail Boost Pin. Defender 200tdi. (or 300tdi)

Hi. I normally only use the forum for resurch, but for once, I thought i'd share my experience. So I bought one a week ago from timbertrail4x4.com. Looked on the forum and found mixed reviews but thought i'd give one a go. My 110 200tdi defender is incredibly sluggish. I've got some decent...

200tdi injector pump leak. Easy gasket?

Hi Diesel was pouring from my engine today. Had a look and it was peeing out from a bolt on the side (right hand side, nearest the wing) of the injector pump. Noticed the bolt was loose so tightened it, slowed but didn't stop the leak. Its clear where its coming from, out of a seal behind a...

Alternator - Help, i cant work this one out on my own

Ok. So with the glow plugs disconnected, and ALL the fuses pulled out, i'm getting 13.3v. I cant think of anything else electrical on the thing. What else would drag volts from the alternator?

Alternator - Help, i cant work this one out on my own

Right, I might of got somewhere. I've disconnected the glow plug relay, I've got the one that connects straight to the battery, and it's reading 13.3v across the battery when revved. Its not the 14v i want but it might have to do. Would it be the relay drawing the volts? or another part of the...

Alternator - Help, i cant work this one out on my own

Oops, wont be doing that again. Just tried with a jump lead from alternator casing to negative and a lead from alternator output straight to battery. No charge. With the output cable off the battery its reading 14v. The second it touches the battery it dropps to 12v, even when revved hard it...

Alternator - Help, i cant work this one out on my own

Analogue multi meter, digital alternator tester, both read the same. I put it on my ford ranger and it reads 14v at tickover. Batterys giving out 12.5v, brand new thursday. Its a right big bugger. Would the alternator cut out (not charge) a fully charged battery? I've tried it with all the...

Alternator - Help, i cant work this one out on my own

Sorry, I posted that without flicking to page 2. Pully is correct. Voltage at the battery is 12.5v at rest. all normal. I've just gone out to do another test. I started the engine and pulled the terminals off the battery, leaving the alternator connected and it didn't die. Ran for a good minuet...

Alternator - Help, i cant work this one out on my own

I've been at this bloody land rover all day and its still not working. Headline is that ive run a thick cable from b+ straight to the battery. With the engine running and alternator cable off the battery, straight onto the tester, 14v. When i connect it to the battery, it drops instantly to...

Alternator - Help, i cant work this one out on my own

Thanks for the replys, lots to try today. I think i'll start with the earth and put a new one on, it cant hurt to have more. Might it be a good idea to get a good thick cable, insulated well, and run it straight from the alternator terminals to the battery? It will remove any issues with the...

Alternator - Help, i cant work this one out on my own

Hi Its been years since I've posted but I constantly use the forum. Every question I've had has been answered in the archives, until now. (gonna be embarrassing if someone posts me a link to a thread with my answer. A couple of years ago my '91 110 defender 200tdi decided to go bang, a rod...
