Just locking it at the crank is not enough for this engine I suggest you look at LRTIME on the tube for more info about correct timing on this engine.
The main concern is how and why the timing jumped. I'm afraid that sort of failure usually ends in terminal engine failure. Scrap car.

The earth straps front of the engine to chassis are a common failure on all L322s
