Have you got the original battery terminal clamps. If it's 12.whatever at idle it may not be alternator fault completely. Try take off all wires at alternator and clean and put back. Clean negative at body...clean all negative.
Yes , so I don't need lots of cooling as mostly work truck then holiday hauling. I used to have pump and stuff in race mode but I rebuilt pump and put back to standard.
It sounds like front install is not much difference to rear. Obviously factory is cleaner and user friendly. Has anyone tried front only electric full size fan. Does the temp change or the engine/bonnet heat an issue. Anyone else have advice or...
OOOOO that's helpful Loafer ! My viscus fan still works great without shroud. I was thinking the electric fan full size of radiator has it's own shroud. Contemplating front install for space between rad and engine...no fan on engine side. Or can...
I put an electric fan on the back of the rad after removing the viscous one. Only had to switch it on twice, both times in 30 degs or more and slow moving traffic.
But I have a feeling that the air-con fans take a lot of the strain in the heat...
Great point. Mine is basic...no ac , no fan coupling. So I have air flow through also you are very correct only need in slow traffic on hot days or very long steep hills. Thankyou for reply.
I wish to install an electric fan to a 300tdi. Has anyone a thought on fan to front of radiator. I have driven vehicles for years without a fan, and then randomly put the fan back on. So have proved 300tdi can drive without needing a fan. I have...
I find anything to do with loss of power regarding the battery causes other things to act up. So battery terminal, battery, alternator. Running like a wild animal when full charge power is corrected. I have found from experience.
Take air pipe off turbo then when it's idling spray wd40 in the turbo. Listen for bearing noise.rev it up and spray. 17mv would still run without loss unless intermittent. Try multi meter at idle and reved up to 2,000rpm. Before turbo winds up...
Yeah bad annoying fault ...needs cleaning every year. Even heat shrink, amalgamation tape or silicone hasn't stopped the oil getting in. I use brake or carby cleaner and air. Spray lots of cleaner then blow through with air and more cleaner and...
Price is about right for a full rebuild down in Essex. The green flat O ring is high pressure. Black is standard or low pressure. I'm remembering the black one is at the top of pump as a seal so put in wrong place however don't know why both were...
I'm interested in the outcome of this as went through similar in the last 5 months with a customer. Ended up being sensor related but all because of battery and battery terminal clamps. Changed fuel pump and other bits to eliminate. Diagnostic...
Or drive into a mechanic and just ask if they can take off and tell you. Probably be able to buy from them right there. Personally I buy mixed packs of O rings and match up what I need, which is same as I'm saying about going to a mechanic
Nope but same size on all the pumps I've done. Sorry I haven't got any here to look at. The size is easy to find out. Just take out and measure. From memory it's the standard thickness not fat thicker O rings...but I could be wrong. Call or email...
You got the pic there don't need to ask but always good to if unsure. Both sides don't have much in them that immediately will fall out. Yes O ring is logical leak, I would change O rings both sides and have a spare.
I'm not sure td5 have the bronze spigot bush. I cut them out with hacksaw blades, cutting a slot piece out then pull it out. Yes need to soak in oil for 24hours. I doubt it's that as you would get a drive drone and vibration whilst driving...
Is it deep rattle or light. Deep and muffled probably just how it's going to be. Light is something loose. Need more info. If you go under while at idle, is it near to the driver's side or center.
Yes easy repair just O ring. The kit is boost ring it adds spacers to make the plunger engage earlier and easier therefore quicker to get fuel. Doesn't make it go faster.
Yeah maybe spider, or if you unscrew inside fuse box and look at the back, looking for a burnt or melted plastic, on the back of the fuse box. Don't expect it will be a relay, as rarely.
