    the panels are in a decent state. just the steel under frames of the doors are needing new box frames welded into it, but seen defenders in a more sorry state than mine.

    commercial insurance.... No just me and my mad landy loving ideas. Will use it for my outdoor comp as well. As for the state of the s3... leaks oil (about a pint per 1000 miles), cold and wet inside when it rains (but that is just a series thing), heater keeps your legs from getting frost bite...

    See the listing on ebay has ended. Still want to swap? Got a 1984 s3 safari 2.25p with lots of spare parts. Needs a bit of work as well though. Still got original engine etc :)

    sorted it :), got new radio :(, working now connected onto the back of the bat-charger and a new earth lead and 10Amp fuse/switch. Cheers for the help guys

    both ideas I will go and check now, cheers :) Finally got round to do it: -direct from bat (via floating fuse) to back of radio and worked for half an hour. (so was wired in through alternator before, cheers Tronicus) Then smoke came from behind the radio as the antenna was slowly melting...

    Cheers, but only got 1 speaker connected (as i don't know where to build in/on the rest). But will try a diff radio to see if that helps.

    Would the alternator not do that from the start? as i got a few min (various time lengths) of good working order each time I start it up, then the on and of (green back light on radio still working and not pulsing) then stops in full... needs a few min and then back at the start again.
