How to - replace a 200 TDi Defender front Shock Absorber.

Pretty excellent photo=sequence and procedure. Have two additional recommendations: Use a set of coil spring compressors. After removing the tyre, jack under the axle and set the coil spring compressors to hold the springs. After removing the shock tower and lowering the axle the spring will...

    Bolts

In addition to the cost you may experience galvanic action due to the dissimilar metals - where the stainless contacts the iron. I'd recommend using a wax undercoating and then a wax coating on the studs and bolts during and after assembly.

    300 Tdi Turbocharger

Anyone here know the best way to separate the 300tdi turbocharger from the manifold? I'm wanting to renew the bushings and seals.

    Failed Emissions

Its remotely possible that the injector pump is putting in too much fuel. I'm not an expert on Land Rovers (yet). If your injector pump has an ancillary device called "negative torque control", the spring under the diaphragm in it could be weak - allowing too much fuel for the turbo pressure...

    Failed Emissions

Sounds like a bad oil seal on the turbocharger. Disconnect the flexible hose that goes from the turbocharger to the intercooler and if it is all oily wet then that is an indicator that it it leaks at least a little. Then disconnect the flexible air pipe that goes from the intercooler to the...

    Compatability?

Both engines should displace very similarly the same volume of exhaust at the same rpm since both are 2.5 liter engines. Whether everything would match up I dunno, and as Yella indicates the boost may be set a little different.

    Houston we have a problem....

I had a Ford Ranger that mysteriously lost antifreeze for 5 year. After replacing the heater core, radiator, cap, and all hoses it still kept disappearing. It disappeared faster during the winter than the summer. I figured it might be a pinhole at the freezeplugs or at the water pump seal...

    300Tdi Cutting out at speed

Replaced all filters, bled the fuel system, checked all air supply hoses. Problem remained - engine cuts out at 27 mph in 3rd gear, 38 in 4th and 52 in 5th. I think this is about 2500 rpm. After further inspection it appears that my turbocharger wastegate is stuck shut. I haven't been able...

    Failed Emissions

You might want to also check your thermostat. If its stuck, the engine may not get up to temp fast enough.

    Failed Emissions

Lots of possibilities but not much info given. First always is to check the easy things, such as ensuring your air filter is not plugged and there are no leaks in the induction system. Did they tell you anything more than simply that it failed?

    Hiclone?

It sounds about as likely to work as a clothespin on the fuel line will stop vapor lock on an old petrol engine. Not impossible, but very improbable ...

    300Tdi Cutting out at speed

Some good ideas here. I'm going to have to look closely to see what is happening. I'll try to borrow an electric fuel pump and check to see if there is a restriction somewhere in the suction fuel lines and take a close look at the air hoses. The fuel shut off solenoid is new, and I've...

    Hiclone?

How is this HICLONE thing supposed to work? Seems Garrett and Allied Signal must have screwed up in a big way if a new tin pipe can make a big difference. Has anyone tested this scientifically or is this another 4x4 urban legend? BM
