Basically from what I can gather.. I'm not a mechanic and he told me in simpletons terms.. The bearings fail.. which makes the crank shaft pack up.. I'm still waiting for a quote (other than hunters 14 grand stupid quote) and still waiting for land rover to get back to me :/
It's done 130000 miles it's been serviced every year fluids checked regularly it has full service history most of its life from hunters .. last 4 years (since we owned it) it's been to a landrover approved garage ..
They are very expensive.. that wasn't a problem till Tuesday though haha.. road tax I think is bad at 480 quid new clutch last year at 1000 serviced every year without fail new filters oil you name it.. still broken :/
Do you think a disco 4 engine would go in it.. just thinking if it's a known fault with the disco 3 but not the 4 if this would be a better fix.. but I have no idea where to start :o
I'd say stay away. Ours has just died a grim death and now needs a new engine.. After numerous quotes and advice we've been informed that what has happened to ours is a common fault
I am currently waiting for landrover to get back in touch
Haha.. i am patiently awaiting a reply not holding my breath.. I also have 2 garages looking for the best quotes for me.. its going to be a costly job.. then sadly think I will be selling it as no one will warranty the work past 6 months
I am actually going to ring landrover direct as I've been told by 4 garages now it a common problem and caused by a bad design .. very expensive dog kennel at the moment .. The dog thinks it's fun to hide in
