Hi, wondering if anyone could help in my search for a good second hand tailgate window seal. My current one is leaking badly and the water is pouring into the cubby hole in the boot.
Thanks

Hi,
I don't suppose anyone would know where I could get 1 single bolt for the mounting of the vcu? I went to work at the prop shaft today and noticed I only had 3 of the bolts (10mm head). Looks like the mechanic that removed them lost one of the bolts.
Thanks

Hi what year is this, I am looking a set of 15 or 16 inch wheels for a 2006 freelander td4

let me rephrase with more technical words -
The front universal joint on the rear propshaft is splined to the output shaft
of the viscous coupling unit, is the propshaft meant to missing a couple of the splines?

This may be a stupid question but is the rear propshaft meant to be missing a couple of teeth where it meets the vcu teeth? I've been looking at mine in poor light conditions after I couldnt get the propshaft connected to the vcu and I noticed a couple of teeth missing.

hey ho hippo, did you put oil or grease into the joint? does the joint come apart and go back together easy enuff?

yeah a lot of freelanders are being written off due to the VCU destroying the IRD/Rear Diff and Gearbox.

hmmm, I had quite a big knock on the rear 2 years ago and have had a fish tank since. Looks like its time to take the carpet out and check.

No, I ordered from a place called landrovercity in England somewhere. Carriage is a lot more expensive to NI than mainland UK... something I dont understand.
I'm just really learning how to do stuff myself on the car, the guy I normally use to do stuff seems to destroy as much as he fixes.

I inspected the propshaft today. When I spin the bearings on the VCU one of them is a little louder than the other. These were new bearings that came with my reconditioned VCU 2 or 3 months ago! Although I dont think my mechanic had one of them at 90 degrees to the line of the VCU.
Gonna change...

I see landrovercity are doing replacement gaiters - Land Rover Freelander 1 Front Propshaft Gaiter / Gaitor - LandRoverCity

I appear to have f**ked up my gaiter today while bringing it back from the mechanics in my trailer. Got back and there was a thick black oil oozing out of the gaiter through a hole. Are these new gaiters easily fitted and the oil easily replaced?

Gonna jack up the rear at the weekend and check for play around the diff input. If it is the diff I dont mind paying for a recon unit... its all the hastle involved in diagnosing the problem. Unfortunately there are no freelander transmission specialists in NI.
subframe bolts are fine, i had...
