    Clunking Transfer box - maybe

Thanks, will do. I would have done that last night but it was filthy weather to be under the landy on the drive.

    Clunking Transfer box - maybe

Evening, I've had a bit of slack in my transfer box for a while now, with a clunk when pulling away less carefully. As of 3 days ago however, that has stopped since I replaced a UJ on the rear that had gone. What now happens is it clunks very loudly on overrun and when changing down gears. It...

    Squealing Clutch

Thanks for your input chaps. It isn't solved yet, but its gone quiet again and more immediate problems in the transfer box have arisen!

    Squealing Clutch

I don't know about the flywheel, I had taken the train into work while the clutch was replaced. However, the squealing has now stopped again of its own accord. This makes me think it might have been a slightly contaminated friction plate or something.

    Squealing Clutch

The pressure plate was replaced with the clutch, well, that is to say I made a wall clock out of the one he removed...I remember seeing the old spigot bush and it was knackered, really chewed up. The replacement clutch is an AP driveline unit, slave and master cylinders were replaced at the same...

    Squealing Clutch

Hi all, I had the clutch replaced about 6 months ago in my 200tdi 87' 90. Mid house move, the slave cylinder punched a hole through the clutch release fork and so I had to get the local trusted mechanic to do it for me as all my stuff was packed. Right from when it was newly replaced, the...

    Ummm, I'm in Suffolk

I work in Woodbridge, although I'm up in Glasgow at the moment. Assuming I get back South in one piece, I'd be up for some laning too.

    Bulkhead swap AND engine transplant?

I'm not sure about this, but have you checked you can keep the same registration after doing all this work? I infer from your shiny chassis comment that it isn't the original one? Its just that I thought there were rules regarding changing more than two items of engine, bulkhead, chassis and...

    Need advice choosing please!

I would say private seller is usually the best value for money. If you say you have a budget of 7k but could reach 10k then stick to 7 and then leave any extra cash for work needed. I can't really disagree with anything others have said, but personally I prefer the 200tdi. Veg oil is a waste of...

    new landy owner needs help!!

Did you catch what your oil temperature was when she went poof? Could it be a reduced intake of air? This could push your air fuel ratio down in the same way that increased fuel would. With a turbo that hot, your outlet temperature must have been pretty high!

Tools or assistance required for fuel tank change

I can't offer lots of experience, but if you need an extra set of hands when you do the tank just let me know. Only just moved up here from down south.

Tools or assistance required for fuel tank change

Have you tried chiselling/filing each side face of the nut to kind of reshape it? Worked for me a few times.

    Essex lanes

Sorry for the lack of a reply, been recovering from tinnitus after driving to and from the alps :D Yes it was me in the blue 90 who was in front of you. It would be good to tag along laning sometime, but i'm heading to plymouth tomorrow until early may, so i guess i'll have to wait until then.

    Essex lanes

Don't suppose any of you boys were out laning this afternoon around Colchester way? More specifically Ardleigh? Series LWB at the front and 90 pickup at the back? Just wondering as I live in the area and the convoy drove straight past the only lane I know of around here. I'm hungry for knowledge...

I had the same a little while ago. Make sure you arent swapping the earth and one of the terminals, I know on mine it wasnt clear which was which. Mine works fine now, although for about 2 weeks I had both the wrong way as I went for a cuppa before I took the light out, then did the wrong one!:D
