    Cylinder Head bolt torque

    I am in the process of tightening up the cylinder head bolts with the help of the Haynes manual on my 200 tdi 2.5 H reg discovery, after the 1st stage of setting to 40 I then have to turn 60 (45degrees) but first attempt snapped the bolt, so what am i doing wrong? 3 notch gasket (18 bolts)
