could it be anything else though, bloddy clunk goes right through the steering and kinda snatches at the steering wheel ?

I think what you have may just be what Discos do. They all roll back a bit after you put the handbrake on as all the slack in the transmission is taken up.

check the A frame joint as that could be the problem as could general transmission wear, my tdi used to feel like that..... rust rust rust

I've now found a chap who'll replace the rear 1/4 chassis for £600 which seems fair.

I can't believe that I'm the 1st on LZ to have this done, someone must know :-)

Hi, Long time since I've been here I hope you lot are all well. Does anyone know how much I can expect to pay to have a new rear 1/4 chassis fitted to my td5. I see you can get'em for £314 but I don't know what labour was involved.... cheers

mine did that and it turned out to be the head gasket at the back of the block, when I put my hand there you could feel it coming out.. known weakspot apparently

20 to 23 mpg.. crikey are you constantly towing something or do you drive it like your on GTA. You should get much more than that.

as an update i've done this now.. fairly straight foreward but had to drill out the 3 rivets that hold a plastic cover underneath the catch oh and had to ease the grill forward too to get access.. I replaced the rivets with self tappers and kind of raw plugs.. took about an hr start to finish
