    Road bias tyres

Spent a lot of time mulling over the Michelins or the Yokohoma Geolander A/T G015. Am happy with the choice; no idea how they'd compare with the Yokos.

    Road bias tyres

You're right, it was £685..... incl. fitting. My mind turns to mush for anything on the Landy costing more than 100, and less than 1000. I can remember the cost of cheap parts, and the really expensive ones, just not the ones in the middle :p Alm.

    Road bias tyres

Just to stick my oar in. I ran Insa Turbo Rangers (265/75 R16, with 50mm spacers) for the last 10 years. Recently had exactly the same thought - "when was the last time i went off road in this thing?" I splashed out and bought a set of Michelin Latitude Cross 235/85 R16, and honestly, road...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Last weekend's job: installing a new headunit to replace the chinese android unit I had for the last 7 years. Unfortunately, because the old one was double din and mounted to the 'large' part of the dash, I had to buy a new Mud Dash. If anyone's wondering it's a Pioneer SPH-DA97DAB-UNI and works...

    X Eng X-Brake

Ahhh, I understand now, and see the problem. Agree, shims would be the way to go. If it helps, I *think* the pads are JCB p/n 478/00849; I don't know of any off-the-shelf shims though. If you get some made up, let me know as I'll expect the same issues at some point down the line. Rob

    X Eng X-Brake

The instructions do state that there is a coarse adjustment of the caliper lever position, but requires undoing the central screw 5mm and then pulling the lever off the spline, rotating, then depressing. You've probably already tried this, but this may save you buying a new cable, at least for...

    X Eng X-Brake

Leaving the car in gear when parking, will be a hard habit to break. Sorry to hear about your truck, who came off worse? My money is on the slightly softer-nosed Hilux.

    Sound Deadening, 300Tdi?

I did a post on this several years ago. It all depends what the noise is. Sounds deadening material (aka the butyl stuff that you also find underneath your kitchen sink) just adds mass to the vibrating panel/area. The net result is that the frequency is lower and the 'tone' is lower. It's less...

    X Eng X-Brake

Nothing to see here, just attaching X Eng X-Brake fitting instructions for posterity as Foundry was the only place seeming to host this .pdf. Something to note: If it's anything like mine, then the pictures in these instructions don't look like what's in the box. I assume they've gone through...

    MYSTERIOUS OVERHEATING ISSUE

Did you get to the bottom of this? I've found that there are a bunch of "generic" pattern-part water temp senders, labelled up as an AMR3321 (look anywhere on eBay, and even Amazon these days). These may be cheap and with you next day, but aren't the same length as OEM and Britpart patterns -I...

Help Request: 300TDI Overheating Mystery / Poss Bleed Hose?

Having some overheating issues with the 300tdi on a recent ~200 mile run. Importantly, the fender has been stood in storage for around 8 months because I didn't have access to regularly drive (was overseas). Symptoms: 1. Getting up to temp much quicker than usual, obvious from both the water...

    110 Sports Box / Drawer

https://ibb.co/L0pKZnZ https://ibb.co/tLwBvt2 https://ibb.co/zGpYGKK Having seen the outrageous prices for these things, I've scribbled my own together and am planning to send drawings to the laser cutters next week. Wouldn't be too difficult to have them make up more than just my set. Can...

    Shooting / Observation Hatch

Hi Dom, Try Masai, they used to do a proper shooting hatch for the rear, not sure if it still exists, but here's a link to their 'windows' page: https://www.masai4x4.com/defender/shooting-hatch-wide-opening-roof-window/Windows-c821930 it would require only minor mods to the roof lining, which...

    Load area mats

If you want the raised lip, just buy 'stable mat' and aluminium angle, cut the angle to length and rivet with big washers -it'll catch and contain the crud, but you can pull it out to pressure wash. Alm.
