    P38A M51 to Rover V8 Swap?

Nail on the head. My M51 is mapped nowadays and puts out a noticeable amount more power than stock, but it still doesn’t deliver power in a “nice” way. The V8s always feel like they burble along happily with just a tickle of throttle, whereas the M51 is screaming away on the turbo just to join...

    P38A M51 to Rover V8 Swap?

Hello All! After nearly 10 years and 100k miles with my Westminster Edition P38 I’ve become a bit tired of the lack of performance from the M51 diesel lump and have been considering a change. I’ve had P38s with the 4.6 in the past and loved the smooth, torquey and effortless character it...

    P38A Phantom gearbox/alternator/EAS fault

Apologies for reviving a dead thread but after 5 years I’ve FINALLY sorted the issue that had been plaguing my P38. As a reminder, the following symptoms would happen after about 5-10 mins of driving on most trips: • Rev Counter Dies • TRACTION FAILURE, EAS FAULT and ALTERNATOR FAULT displayed...

Defender 90 2010 Defender 90 Hard Top for sale

Selling our beloved 2010 Defender 90 Hard Top to make way for a new car. It’s on about 117k miles at the moment. The landy is in good condition throughout and drives well. Bodywork is straight with some age and mileage related marks (like most Defenders). We’ve had the car since 2016 and it...

    P38A MPG Worries.

One step ahead of you. The tank was dropped last year to replace the rear brake lines during a big braking system overhaul. The nearest ramp I have access to is a 2hr drive away, which is why cutting the floor is a more attractive option to me ;)

    P38A MPG Worries.

So the in tank fuel pump would appear to be weaker than it should be (to my surprise as I thought this would result in poor starting). The pump has put in a good 18 years and 200k miles worth of service, so it was likely long overdue replacement. I’ve ordered a new one from LR and will...

Found it, appreciated. Will perform this test and report back with findings.

    P38A MPG Worries.

I'll give the in tank pump a check as well. Is there a flow rate I should expect to observe, or is the test just to determine if the pump is working at all?

    P38A MPG Worries.

Having now replaced the leak off pipes (again) with 3.2mm i.d. fuel pipe I can confirm that these were not leaking. There are distinct bubbles rising from where the injector meets the head. I have taken another video (link embedded) which perhaps more clearly shows where the bubbles are rising from.

    P38A MPG Worries.

So I’ve just a quick look at the bleed off pipes. They all look good (I replaced them last year after a significant fuel leak). Strangely though, there’s some fuel/oil? and small bubbles coming from where injector number 1 is seated. I’ve attached a link to a video showing this. I’m...

    P38A MPG Worries.

Happy New Year ladies and gents! I was wondering if anyone could shed a little light on on why the MPG has started plummeting on my 2001 diesel. The car has always returned roughly 29-30mpg but in the last couple of months this has taken a sharp tumble to about 22.5-23mpg (despite the car...

    P38A p38 Rang Rover 2.5td Torque Converter Lock-up

Just to throw my two pence in. My 2.5 started to rev it's tits off on hills like yours is in your video. It was caused by the viscous fan going bad and remaining constantly locked up (which was robbing the engine of what little power it has). It might tie in with your coolant temperature...
