I had posted a reply to the above but it doesn't seem to've appeared.
i used the loopback plug and everything worked, so it seems the bluetooth module is the culprit. so i will try and plug in the new one.
final question on this - the method i have seen online for plugging in the new module...

It worked with the loopback plug - so will look to attach the new bluetooth module to that. thanks for your help!

Thanks for your efforts! it doesn't look like the bluetooth module is currently crashing anything.
this is no doubt a long-shot, but does anyone know of anywhere that still works on these cars. I am in NW London but willing to travel a bit if there is somewhere decent. my local indy does not do...

Just tried with new cable. still no bluetooth and took out all the tv/dvd/cd units.....
assuming the bluetooth module is knackered, i don't know how i will work out how to connect a new one. not fatal, but ideally would like all the bits n pieces working.

Yes flashing light is on the disconnected MOST cable, but all other modules appear to be working correctly?
