Just been on there again and saw these, great examples of posts that help me feel superior: 'Just wondering if anyone could shed any light on anti-roll bars for me, i have no idea what they do ' Clue is in the name I believe. 'The driver's side wiper on my daughter's 1999 clio suddenly...

Apart from a Range Rover and a Vitara, there is also a Renault Scenic on our drive. I have a couple of issues with it and so decided that as Landyzone and also the Suzuki forum have been so helpful , I would find similar advice on the Renault forum. RANT: Well, maybe I'm wrong and I don't...

    Headlights Always on!!!

Thanks. I read about these dim/dip things but thought they operated the dipped headlights at a low output when the sidelights were on. Don't remember them doing this on the car though? I might have a look at it if I have time but if it isn't really needed, maybe I won't.

    Headlights Always on!!!

It's a 1988 Classic, so I am not sure it has a delay for the lights and they stay on all the time. Water in the fusebox is a possibility, but I only jetted a small area at the front of the car, can't see a fusebox there. Risk of sounding like a complete numpty, but where is the fusebox on...

    Headlights Always on!!!

Just tinkering with the speedo assembly/binnacle today and suddenly I was aware that the headlights were on. Ah, I must have hit the switch. Turned it off, but the headlights are still on. The taillights are not, the side lights are not. Went back through what I was doing on the car up to when I...

    Classic speedo jumping

As far as Britpart goes, you couldn't wish for a better quality product, according to Britpart. I have no experience of them, but reading the forum tells me to stay well away if possible. Yes, I have ordered 2 seals, they were about 60p I think. Thing is, I don't recall seeing any when I took...

    Classic speedo jumping

I saw that kit on the Paddocks website, but the picture is the same as on the Britparts website! Anyway, I needed it quick so have got a local 4x4 garage to get one in tomorrow. Only about £5 more than the web. They asked me if I needed a 9mm or 12mm rubber seal, so that may be another thing I...

    Classic speedo jumping

Cheers Teflon, but the cable runs up from the gearbox and behind the engine. There is no sender unit it seems, so I must have the normal cable/worm drive type. I will take it off if I can and see what's what. BTW, spot on with your guess it was a CV joint on the car. Haven't fitted the new...

    Classic speedo jumping

OK, rather than messing about with it, I'll just replace the whole cable and outer. If it's all in one piece, then maybe just the inner cable. Think the input on the dial is OK. Beast, you say its easy, so do I just undo the gearbox end somehow. It doesn't look like a nut or anything, just...

    Classic speedo jumping

The speedo on my 1988 range rover V8 jumps up and down when driving. I have checked the cable, by undoing it from the speedo dial at the back with the car off the ground and can see that the cable seems to spin but in a jerky way. When you push your finger against the cable end that sticks out...

No drive in auto 88 RR 3.5 V8

Teflon, you star. :D:D:D Here is a pic of the problem! Off to get the new CV joint and the gaskets I need now. If that don't fix it then.....

Looks like I need a relacement complete front axle for a 1988 RRC. :( If you have one in a decent condition and cheap in the Bristol , Bath area I would be interested to hear from you.

No drive in auto 88 RR 3.5 V8

In answer to your previous question, you are talking to 88RR, the owner but not driver of the car. Thanks for the effort you have put into resolving my query and you have given me much to consider. Not panicking, just saw that you were online replying to this thread and then disappeared...
