Two more things. 1. Front diff bush is sometimes an early warning of VCU getting tight. Worth doing the one wheel up test. Search on this forum if you don't know it. 2. If VCU is OK then worth considering a Poly front bush as they will last 5... -

7They can be changed without dropping the subframe, just remove the other 2 and the diff will move enough to wiggle it out. Don't skimp unless you want to replace them every couple of years.

Get underneath, grab the point where the diff connects to the prop and push up and down. You will see the bush has broken I expect.

Front of the 3 rear diff bushes has failed and prop kicks in air and touches floor when accelerating.

7So very recently in my Freelander Auto, but not all the time, I‘ve had a rapid kerchunk-chunk sound when pressing fairly full on the accelerator. When super smooth (slowish) on accelerator it doesn’t happen. It was a tad alarming… Freelander TD4...
