    Illegal?

    Should be legal as long as the insurance is notified as it is a modification. I had one in my pick up, no problems at all, just make sure the thing slides sufficiently or the base lifts up for access to the battery

    bulk head

    I got 2 bulkhead repair panels for about £30 off Ebog and someone to weld for about £100 (most of the labour was dismantling the thing to weld)
