Of course it is friendly, most of the time! Bit of humour can relieve the boredom of the day.

Hello everyone, I'm sorry to post this as a separate topic, as i tried before in a less specific sense. I had some great help and advice, but haven't solved the final bit yet. I am fitting a rear wash system (complete from scratch because it...

Thanks for the comments, I’m not expecting a limo and I’m prepared for the routine expenditure to keep things tight. 👍

Maybe it's more relevant when people go offroading - which i won't be (nothing serious anyway).

Hi @tottot, thanks for replying - it's a 90 Hardtop (slowly turning into S/W ;)) 2004, running Cooper Discoverer STT Pro 265x70xr17 sat on KN Predator 17" alloys. Do I need to jack the front so the wheels are off the ground when adjusting the...

Not sure what’s on there but the ride is a little hard and bouncy. I’ll have a good look to see any markings. It’s not the first time OME has been mentioned. Also Bilsteins seem to get decent reviews, less so Terrafirma, but like I say, I won’t...

Hello all, suspension has been covered from many angles before, but I can’t find the info I need. I’m looking for bushes, suspension and shocks recommendations to soften the ride for general use. No real off-road use required and no heavy towing...

I think I will. I am also changing the tensioner for good measure and planned preventative maintenance I think it’s called. I was worried it would have been one of the pressed in bearings, so to be honest I’m ok with changing a few pulleys and...

Ok, update time. Between heavy (ish) showers today I took the plunge. Went in with the massive viscous fan spanners. Absolutely worth the money, very simple. Having removed the fan, the noise was still there, so a tick for the fan being ok...

Yes, thanks, most videos show using a socket. I’ve got spanners and the two more simple pulleys coming. If it works, I’ll post an update from a novices perspective with part codes / costs etc. wish me luck !!

Update - I’ve just found a you tube video with the very sound my engine is making. For anyone interested, it’s a you tube video by Dagson67 (in an EU language) titled Land Rover Defender idler pulley noise.

110Matty replied to the thread Engine whine.
Just thinking about labour costs at garages / specialists - is it worth buying those fan spanners and check that first by running the engine, then if that doesn’t cure it, remove the belt and replace all the pulleys and new belt as routine...
