    A dull thud.

VC = viscous coupling which acts like a centre diff. If it is failed you can drop the front prop shaft and carry on as normal until you can replace it. I have never replaced one so can't help with regards to the complexity of swapping one out.

thisisnt going well, whats the symptoms of prop uj failure?

The viscous fan wasn't a Britpart unit by any chance? I recall a few threads about britpart fans self destructing after a few miles.

    slight misfire

Wait until it gets dark and then open the hood and look at the leads for signs of arcing. You will need to look closely if the misfire is slight. Might be worth a new set of leads in any case. I replaced mine with OEM leads and it made a hell of a difference.

    A dull thud.

Given that you were on full lock are you sure your VC isn't seized and this was just the wheel slipping against the force of the turn. You can check your VC by jacking up one wheel and trying to turn it. You will need a master / breaker bar and a lot of steady force to get it to move. If it...

thisisnt going well, whats the symptoms of prop uj failure?

Next steps are pretty straightforward. You have ruled out wheel balance so as johnlad says drop one prop shaft at a time and see if it stops. I am assuming you have ruled out the vibration coming from the engine? Maybe a fin was knocked off the viscous fan when you where fixing the cooling problems.

Are these the airbags I need?

Oh the differences between the French and British approach to health & safety. :p Personally I favour the "survival of the fittest" approach.

    More woes

Just to be belt and braces on this - are you sure there is gas in the system as the compressor will not engage if the system is low on gas.

    MOT - It's a game

I used an MOT Max this year to do all three cars. They did some offer which worked out pretty cheap. All 3 were due in March so I just brought them down on 3 consecutive weekends. They all passed and only one had an advisory for a tire close to the limit. It was different Guy each time but one...

    Exhaust manifold gaskets blowing ?

Other than the gaskets it is also "common" for the manifold to crack at flexible portion. This happened to me and can be rather difficult to spot. Stuckagainsteve's suggestion regarding the brake fluid should help tho'

    18" hurricane tyre size?

It might help folks here if you shared your reason for asking this question. Have you been given a set 245 for free or something? Sure 245 will fit but whether they come off the rim going around bends is anyone's guess.

    Workshop Manual on pdf

Not sure if anyone has seen this already but on my recent travels to the Middle East I stumbled across a .PDF version of the Range Rover Workshop manual. I had been looking for such a thing for some time as RAVE only on works on a windows PC and I use an Android tablet for most of my online...

    Alternative 4x4's

As some might remember my signature used to show me owning 2 Rangie's and 2 Cherokee's. No surprise my next preferred car to a Rangie is the Cherokee. I have to add that I mean the the old XJ model and not the new thing which should have been put down at birth. Same goes with all the other Jeep...

    The Good Book

Ditto Jerrytlr & Datatek. I had a visible hole in the top left of my condenser for three months with no book symbol. Regarding Kwikfit, I have used them for a few years without complaint. If your cold air temp doesn't reduce by 10% they don't charge you. I have even used them as part if my...

    Collecting Friday

I assume from the model year that this is a P38 and not a L322. If so and its a 4.6l the gearbox will be fine. Even the 4.0l and doozals have pretty reliable gearbox fitted. The L322 box does appear to run into problems around the 80k mark.

^^^ wot Data says. The fuses didn't blow for no reason especially a 40A maxi. You need to investigate further. My money is on the fuse box.

And you Think that owning a Range Rover is expensive?

Next time I am flying to Narita I will let you know. I have hand carried all manner of car parts for friends over the years just so they can have access to better prices.

    Good ole P38

I think JohnP38 has it right. I have had the battery off both of mine more times than I care to count and have never had to enter an EKA code once. Trouble starts when the battery goes flat when the alarm set.
