    Anyone Got a 200tdi Turbo?

Hello, The turbo on my 200tdi has been droning at me for a month or so now and following an inspection just a few moments ago, it seems the bearing is shot. There is a lot of up / down movement in the compressor and it is passing rather a lot of oil. So... Does anyone have a 200tdi turbo in...

    injector coking/ bloked fuel valve

You have put the sealing washer in upside down. The bulge around the middle should point up and out of the hole (towards the sky!) so that as you lower the injector into its recess, it should sit on the bulge. Then, as you tighten the injector down it compresses against the base of the nozzle...

    injector coking/ bloked fuel valve

It sounds like the copper washer has not sealed properly. Remove the injector in question and give the injector seat right down at the bottom of the hole in the cylinder head a really thorough clean. Spray a little paraffin into the hole and then use a rag wrapped around the end of a screw...

    injector coking/ bloked fuel valve

No problem :) I would strongly suggest that you take your injectors to a diesel injection specialists to have them tested. In most cases you should be charged no more than £5 per injector. They are quite straight forward, mechanical two-stage injectors. Any injection specialist should be able...

    injector coking/ bloked fuel valve

It is very usual for the injector nozzles / tips to be covered in soot, particularly more noticeable on an engine that has been over fuelling or burning oil. There is no such thing as a fuel valve in the cylinder head, the spill rail / leak off that you refer to from the injectors is controlled...

    allmakes 4x4 pistons

It's not a difficult task, just time consuming. When you push the ring down into the bore to check the gap, make sure that you push it down into the bottom quarter of the cylinder and then check the gap. It must also be sat flat in the bore, so use a piston to push it down. When filing the gap...

    Lift Pump Blanking Plate?

A facet solid state lift pump (the black plastic type). I flow tested it a few weeks ago - pumps much more fuel than the mechanical pump and reckons to prime upto a pressure of 10psi before it free rides.

    Lift Pump Blanking Plate?

That is ofcourse an option and it is a route that I will go down if I can't fine anything else.

    Lift Pump Blanking Plate?

Hello, I am doing away with the mechanical lift pump on my 200tdi and require a blanking plate to cover the recess. I have two options available. I can either remove the entire cam cover plate (the bit that the lift pump bolts to) and fit a solid plate in its place, or simply find a piece of...

First timer. Can you guys offer advice on this one on eBay?

Hello & Welcome. I was having a look at that 110 on eBay last night. It looks okay but that is all just part of the problem because looks can certainly be very deceiving. Usually if the seller is not trying to hide something, they will include a photo of the underside / chassis, particularly...

    Show me your load space!

I did just that two years ago, it worked quite well apart from everyone being able to see straight in at me! I might make something similar again that folds away nicely.

    Show me your load space!

Hello, I am about to tidy up the rear load space of my 90. My intention is to create a stealth camper. I would like to ply line and carpet the back with recesses for the windows and then create a small bed area at the back to give enough space for a quick, comfortable kip and some storage...

    Softer Suspension

Ayup, I think its about time that I overhauled the suspension on my 1986 90. It currently has standard height, standard duty springs and dampers but the ride is quite firm and two of the dampers are in bits. I'd like to soften it a little or at least make the bumps in the road a little less...

Split Spill Return Hose 300 tdi 1994

There's no harm in trying it yourself. It is a very straight forward task involving three short lengths of rubber fuel hose which are just pushed over flared banjo fittings on the injectors. The cloth that you see is braided over the top of the rubber pipe just to make it a little harder...

    lift pump, is it right?

It sounds to me like you may have installed the lift pump with the cam lever sat beneath or under the cam shaft as opposed to up and in front of it. Remove the lift pump and with the cam lever pointing away from you, place your thumb over the left hand (OUT) union and manually force the cam...

Why does everone rip me off !!

So more than likely been hydro-locked at some point in it's supposedly short life. Did you do a compression test before you stripped it down? I assume that you will be checking all the rods and deglazing / re-ringing it before you re-assemble it? -Tom

    Electric Lift Pump Advice

Cheapo one may be better quality! Yes they ae all from the same garage but it has absolutely nothing to do with them personally. They order parts when they are required and it is a fiasco that has been going on for te years, not just a few months. There could have been a faulty batch...

    Electric Lift Pump Advice

That's quite a bit more than the facet pumps can rack upto, would 10psi be adequate? It's more down to gallons per hour though isn't it so I would need to match or exceed whatever the mechanical lift pump outputs.
