Hello,

I am doing away with the mechanical lift pump on my 200tdi and require a blanking plate to cover the recess. I have two options available. I can either remove the entire cam cover plate (the bit that the lift pump bolts to) and fit a solid plate in its place, or simply find a piece of metal similar in shape to the mating surface of the lift pump which will bolt to the cam plate to cover the recess. Does anybody know whether either of these parts are available and if so, do you have part numbers? I expect that the plate that is used towards the front on the right hand side of the engine would fit, but it's a matter of finding one!

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
-Tom

we did metalwork in school, drill hacksaw and a file.

what are you replacing the liftpump with??

A facet solid state lift pump (the black plastic type). I flow tested it a few weeks ago - pumps much more fuel than the mechanical pump and reckons to prime upto a pressure of 10psi before it free rides.

Think your best bet is as fanatic says get a bit of 2or 3 mm plate and cut to shape of gasket drill and bolt up
